HIGHER POWER AS EACH ONE CONCEIVES IT?

Almost nobody doubts that there are invisible or immaterial forces and energies, as is the case of radio waves, feelings of love, hate, and thoughts. As for the origin of life, many questions have not yet been answered, it is still a great mystery how the universe millimetrically organizes the conditions for life to manifest itself on our planet (as far as we know, so far there is only intelligent life here). If water or air were just a little bit thicker, just a little bit, life would not be possible. Coincidence, mere chance? Maybe yes, maybe no. Let Darwin tell you, there are indications of invisible forces that seem to be interested in the perpetuation of life.

Leaving aside the more remote existential questions (evolutionists or possibly creationists), inside us, in the human body, despite the efforts of neurobiology, we are also unable to explain many things in a scientific way, as is the case of consciousness. Isn't there already enough reason for contemplation and astonishment simply by the fact that life exists?

We are made of the same stuff as the stars: atoms and subatomic particles. Does this suggest that we are part of a greater whole, an organizing intelligence that promotes existence? Does what organizes the galaxies also organize our biological/mental system? My intention, my trip? It may be, it is difficult to be sure, as well as to refute this hypothesis. Faced with so many doubts and worries, since our ancestors, there is a need to search for meaning and connection with something greater. Many are the institutionalized attempts to apprehend knowledge that will lead us to transcendentality, many people seem to be satisfied with it, but others are not.

You may think that this is vain philosophy or proselytism, which I don't disagree with, but questioning and reflection can for a few moments force us to pay less attention to the minutiae and concerns of daily life and look at the vastness of the mysteries that hover over each one of us.

Modern life, despite providing us (for the majority of the world's population) with food, shelter and modern medical care, has not been able to prevent a great increase in human suffering, especially when it comes to depression, anxiety, panic, addictions and meaninglessness. And even less have we been able to escape through the entertainment industry, nor through the distractions of success, love affairs, and other addictions.

At a certain point, a person can really feel that he has lost control of his life, and suffering becomes his most faithful companion, despite the efforts of psychiatry and religions that try to intervene, but for many without success. In these moments what is left? Despair, hopelessness, suicide? Or perhaps we can try to call for a Higher Power?

How to have faith if the person doesn't believe in religions and the medicines only numb them? The 12 Steps recovery program of the anonymous groups offers you a way out. It teaches that one has the freedom for the person to personally choose and conceive of a Higher Power in whatever form they can.

Having the freedom to choose to believe in something Greater without dogma, doctrines or primers, as well as being cheap (free) can be the ultimate life-saver. Many people in this situation witness an inexplicable turnaround even under the imminence of an almost certain tragic personal outcome, in simple words a turnaround right on the edge of the abyss.

Being present to oneself, paying attention to what occurs in the body and mind that sustains life, can be an alternative way to reach a wisdom that can guide us to a profound personality change. Staying within, staying in, reconnecting can feed our neediness and serenade our mind to listen to the voice that works for life. Simple, free, available, here, now, but it takes a lot of courage to look inside and feel what we have long needed to feel. Whoever ventures can start an awakening. Don't believe try it? What do you have to lose?
